Gear Test: Super Paddles

This week, we teamed up with Super Paddles to test 4 of their custom paddles.

Here are our unbiased, unpaid, thoughts:

(1) Alloy SUP Paddle – 3 Piece Adjustable Stand Up Paddle – Adventurer Series $39.95

Thoughts: For the price, this paddle gets the job done! Set up, use and storage are all easy. We would recommend this for beginner paddlers. It creates great movement in the water. However, because the blade is built with a more flexible material, you are losing power from your stroke. This is why we do not see this paddle as a fit all, and for more intermediate/experienced SUP friends we would recommend one of the three paddles below.

(2)  Fiberglass SUP Paddle – 3-Piece Adjustable Stand Up Paddle. Super Paddles – Fiberglass Series Elite – Fiberglass Shaft, Nylon Blade– $69.95

Thoughts: Again, love the functionality for easy set up, use and storage. This paddle is perfect for those who want to go lighter than the Alloy Paddle and get more power with their stroke, without splurging for the price of Carbon Fiber. We also love the wide blade, which is better for SUP Surfing or strong currents in rivers.

(3) Carbon Fiber SUP Paddle – 3-Piece Adjustable Stand Up Paddle with Paddle Bag. Super Paddles – Elite 12K: Pure 12K Carbon Fiber Blade & Shaft  – $219

Thoughts: This is Court’s favorite paddle of the four. It is lightweight, and made of a strong material, carbon fiber. This means going farther distances without losing power or getting tired from paddle weight. It has a sleek and slender blade which is perfect for precise movement and powerful strokes.

(4) Carbon Fiber SUP Paddle – 3-Piece Adjustable Stand Up Paddle – Super Paddles – Carbon Fiber Series Elite Bamboo: Pure Carbon Fiber with Bamboo Veneer – $209

Thoughts: This is Johns favorite paddle. The shaft is primarily the same as Court’s favorite paddle, the only difference being the blade featuring pure carbon with a bamboo veneer. Because of this blade change, it is a little heavier than the other carbon fiber elite design, but the functionality is still amazing. It has similar sleek shape for power and precision.

Overall we were very impressed with the design and quality from super paddles.

Thanks for checking out our reviews and if you have any questions on any of these paddles, feel free to drop us an email here, and we would love to answer more question.

Paddle on,

Court & John
