Our biggest question, as we prepare to paddle an 85 mile river in Alaska…
What about the bears?
Recently, my sister-in-law introduced me to the “Sound Grenade.” A little clip that, when you pull it, admits high frequency sounds to stun your attacker (or bear). While I cannot attest to how these work on bears (yet), I wanted to share this post as a female who spends a lot of time in the wilderness, because honestly this should be an essential safety item when hiking the trails.
It is as small as a keychain, lightweight and waterproof.
You can carry it on your pack, or set it up as a tripwire around your camp as you sleep. One of the best investments we’ve made as explorers, and it’s only $15.99 on Amazon right now.
We will be adding more to this post after our Alaska Adventure, but in the meantime, this is excellent for peace of mind on trails and overnight camping. Especially for keeping out the curious!
