Maybe it was the excitement, or the jet lag from our cross country trip, but as we loaded into the car at 6am, the 28 degree air didn’t seem so chilling. The inland lakes of Rhode Island were all frozen over, and the ocean crashed with February winds, so the salt water lakes that opened up to the ocean, were our only chance for calm paddle.

Our lake turned out being glassy and perfect, and the day allowed us to continue exploring the coastline by lighthouse jumping from Point Judith, to Jamestown to Newport.

While we only had one day and fleeting daylight to explore the State, we covered a lot of ground and would love to visit during the summer to explore more of the lakes and trails in New England.
