Joshua Tree Unpaved

Joshua Tree is one of the most remarkable National Parks with it’s unique rock formations, and while many of it’s main attractions lay conveniently close to paved roads, there’s so much more waiting to be discovered. Whether it’s by taking one of the many dirt roads or hiking in, we’ve set a goal for 2019 to spend more time in this park.

This weekend we set to explore Geology Tour Road via our Jeep, and some of the rockier back trails that spit out on the the other side of the Indio Hills. While most of our images are when we were on flat roads, if you take this route be ready for a bumpy 4×4 ride once you exit Geology Tour Rd!

*As with all adventures, we highly urge anyone taking back routes to always have a GPS map, extra food, and extra water. Also make sure to let someone know where you’re headed (what trails), and when you plan to be back. Don’t plan on making mistakes, but planning incase of them can be life saving.*
